M5, T15: (5/4/2010) An investigation into what may be the next Gulf War syndrome. Several years ago, otherwise healthy soldiers started coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan literally gasping for breath. Their doctors were at a loss to explain conditions normally found in people decades older. But now there are some who believe that these illnesses are the direct result of the air breathed in from hundreds of military “burn pits,” burning hazardous materials -- including batteries, computers, paint and even human body parts. Also, two views of the aftermath of the oil slick in the Gulf of Mexico: fishermen in Louisiana who fear their livelihood will never return, and Native Alaskans who are trying to stop drilling coming to their shores. They hope the tragedy in the Gulf of Mexico is a game changer for their cause.
