A Cottage on Dartmoor
A salacious silent film by director Anthony Asquith, jealously jeopardizes the life of a barber obsessed with a beautiful manicurist. Joe (Uno Henning) works with Sally (Norah Baring), but their relationship remains strictly professional despite his desire to make it a more personal. Sally and one of her regular customers, Harry (Hans Adalbert Schlettow), become intimately involved and this romance enrages Joe. When Harry comes into the shop for a shave, Joe's usually steady hand slips and the razor slashes Harry's throat. Joe may or may not have intended to cut Harry, but a court of law deems it attempted murder. Sentenced to a lengthy stay at Dartmoor Prison, Joe's jealousy turns into hate as he plots an escape in order to enact his revenge on the devoted duo.
