Camelot

Movie · Kids & Family · Animation

As a child, Arthur is adopted by the wizard Merlin, Vivian and the Women of Avalon. From them he learns about the principals of the natural world. When Arthur grows older he marries Morgause, but they are forced apart when he is called to leave Avalon to meet his destiny. She cannot go with him as she cannot exist apart from the magical isle of Avalon. On his journey forward, he saves the damsel Guinevere from a dragon and makes her his queen. Arthur's dream of all men being equal, no oppression by land-owning lords, and 'might for right' is manifested in the building of Camelot, a grand castle where peace based on truth and kindness reign. He calls the best men in the country together to join his Round Table, to fight against the injustices of the poor, chaotic invasions and brutality of the Dark Ages. The best of his knights is Lancelot, who becomes Arthur's friend while helplessly falling in love with Guinevere. Arthur will not acknowledge their betrayal of him and in this lie refutes the cornerstone that Camelot stands for. Arthur's power-hungry son Mordred turns bitter and traps Lancelot and Guinevere together to force Arthur to battle his best friend and knight, thus dividing the Knights of the Round Table. The story of King Arthur reminds us that goodness does not die and that courage is never wasted. Arthur's untiring dedication to improving his world lives on after he falls victim to his human weaknesses. Merlin teaches that being at one with nature gives great strength and understanding.
