Paul is a successful young businessman who has recently been cleared of domestic violence charges against his ex-wife. He meets Maya and becomes infatuated with her. They go on several dates and eventually move in together, leading to marriage. Initially, their relationship is happy but Paul becomes suspicious when Maya receives a call from someone named "V" and she brushes it off as an old friend. The marriage continues smoothly until Paul expresses his desire to start a family, but Maya becomes distant and starts taking birth control pills without Paul's knowledge. Feeling frustrated, Paul has an affair with an old flame, Denise, who ends up becoming pregnant. He urges her to get an abortion, but she decides to keep the baby and buys a plot of land to invest in the child's future. Paul meets with Denise to discuss the baby and promises to make things work. Meanwhile, Maya returns from a business trip and wants to work on their relationship. Paul receives a call from Denise, who informs him that she's had a miscarriage and needs him for emotional support. Paul meets with her and tells her to stay away from him and pretend he doesn't exist. Denise is shocked by this. In the meantime, Maya has been snooping around the house and finds Paul's safe, trying to open it without success. She quickly puts everything back in place to avoid getting caught. Denise contacts Maya and tells her everything about her relationship with Paul, but Maya is not surprised by the information. Denise warns Maya that Paul is not who he seems and she should be careful. Paul discovers a receipt that reveals Maya has been paying for an apartment she claimed to have left. He confronts Maya about this, assuming she's after his money, but Maya reveals that she's actually the best friend of his former wife, Veronica, who he had assaulted and almost killed. They believe that evidence of Paul's crime is in the safe and manage to get the code, in which they find the evidence they were looking for to put Paul away. They try to escape before Paul catches them, but they don't have the keys to the car. Paul ambushes them in the house, but before he can harm them, Maya knocks him out and they manage to call the police to come to the rescue.
