El Amparo

This award-winning drama is based on an amazing real story. At the end of the 1980s, on the border between Venezuela and Colombia, two men survive an armed attack perpetrated on the Arauca River, while 14 of their comrades die on the spot. The army accuses them of being guerrillas and, with intimidation, tries to take them out of the cell where they are guarded by a police officer and by the inhabitants of El Amparo, who desperately try to prevent them from relocated. As they say the truth, that they are simple fishermen, the pressures to yield to the official version are overwhelming.
