Addis Ababa, 1989. Sixteen-year-old Mina lives with her grandmother and brother as Ethiopia's civil war rages. Her Jewish family is preparing to flee to Israel, but the plan leaves behind Eli, her Christian boyfriend, who is hiding in the woods to avoid being drafted into the army. Mina hatches a plan to save him, but in wartime, plans rarely go as hoped.
