What Price Hollywood?
Boozy silent film director Max Carey (Lowell Sherman) is charmed by sassy Brown Derby waitress Mary Evans (Constance Bennett), taking her to a lavish film premiere and inviting her to visit his film set. Mary is soon given a walk-on role and set on the path to stardom, quickly rising in the ranks of fame and fortune, while Max’s career starts to spiral down due to his drinking. While partying at the exclusive Santa Barbara Polo Field, Mary meets old money millionaire Lonny Borden (Neil Hamilton) and is immediately smitten. After a quick courtship they wed, but their difference in upbringing, and Max’s influence on their lives puts the relationship in jeopardy.
