Jim: The James Foley Story
On Thanksgiving Day 2012, American journalist James “Jim” Foley was kidnapped in Syria and went missing for two years before the infamous video of his public execution sent shockwaves and introduced much of the world to ISIS. This heartfelt and emotional film won the Audience Award at Sundance 2016 and is a touching tribute to conflict journalists around the world. Jim’s story comes to life through intimate interviews with his family, friends and fellow journalists. His fellow hostages reveal never-before-heard details of their terrifying captivity as well as memoires of the special friendships they formed, making the most of their lives in isolation. Through footage shot by Foley himself, the world sees firsthand his dedication to uncover the truth and the realities of the international conflicts he unveiled. This is the story of a man who laid his life on the line for a cause he felt was worth more than his own mortality.
