After a botched robbery attempt leads to their banishment, a clumsy pig demon and his toad companion hatch an ambitious scheme: impersonate the legendary monk Tang San Zang and his disciples to claim the glory of the sacred scrolls. Recruiting a chatterbox weasel and a cowardly gorilla to complete their ragtag troupe, the quartet embarks on a chaotic journey across a world filled with dangerous rivals and mistaken identities. Their charade takes a perilous turn when they stumble into the path of a sinister adversary plotting to consume the monk for immortality. Forced to confront their own limitations, the group must decide if they are content playing pretend or if they possess the true mettle of heroes.
