Anna Deavere Smith's powerful and critically acclaimed play comes to the screen, taking aim at America's failed justice system, epidemic of police brutality, and ongoing fight for civil rights. Culled together from hours of personal interviews from across the country conducted by Smith, the film finds Smith transforming herself into various diverse characters as she brings to life the stories of 18 real-life people, including current and former inmates, protestors, educators, politicians and others, fighting in their communities for a lost generation of American youth.
