Otis Tremmel, a homeless private investigator is hired by a heroin addict named Sternwood to investigate what happened to his dog, Sprinkles. This latest case will take Otis from the streets of Skid Row to the newly formed tech bubble along the beaches of Venice to a mansion in the Hollywood Hills, exploring all the fiefdoms and characters at every socio-economic level that comprises the metropolis of Los Angeles. What he discovers will reveal a greater truth about the changing city itself and the "progress" in general.
