Still grieving for the loss of their child a novelist and his wife are confronted by the intrusion of a girl who appears at their door one night spooked by masked men. The girl seems slightly unhinged. Is her questioning and behaviour a result of her fear or is there something more sinister afoot? Soon a game of cat and mouse ensues in which the couple are forced to reveal shocking details from their past and uncover the motives of the masked men.
