The Infinite Husk

Vel is an exiled extraterrestrial punished for a forbidden act and sent to Earth, where she is forced to inhabit the body of a young Black woman living in Los Angeles. Cut off from her home world, Vel is given one chance to return: accept a dangerous mission to spy on a fellow exile, Mauro, whose secret research may pose a serious threat. As Vel embeds herself deeper into Mauro’s life, her assignment grows increasingly perilous. Surveillance gives way to deception, and deception to survival, as Mauro’s experiments attract dangerous attention. Navigating the vulnerabilities of human life while evading forces determined to expose or destroy her, Vel begins to experience fear, connection, and desire for the first time. With her mission approaching a point of no return, Vel must decide how far she is willing to go to complete her assignment, and whether returning home is worth the cost of the life she has begun to live.
