The Invisible Man

The Invisible Man is a modern telling of H.G. Wells' classic story. Griffin, a brilliant scientist, meets Faith, a leader in the field of quantum optics. He introduces her to his work, and shows her that he is on the verge of completing an experiment on a formula for invisibility. Although the experiment works, it causes madness in the animal test subjects. Faith agrees to assist him in completing his work. Shortly after their meeting, Griffin encounters a college student, Steven, whom he suspects murdered his son Ryley. Faith and Griffin begin a friendship and find a mutual attraction. The two become close. One evening, Faith discovers Griffin in tears. It is the anniversary of his son's death. We learn that Griffin’s son was brutally murdered in his home, a murder that never resulted in conviction. His vulnerability leads to a kiss between the two, however the kiss is cut short when Griffin discovers Faith is about to be engaged. When she leaves to meet her on again off again boyfriend, the University Provost, Hagens. Griffin’s grief and anger lead him to use the formula on himself. When Faith returns, the experiment is incomplete, Griffin finds that only his skin has become invisible, and the two struggle to complete the process. Griffin is now invisible, but the formula is unstable and can cause mental deterioration. Faith tells Griffin that she has rejected Hagens and commits herself romantically to him. Griffin uses his invisibility to exact revenge on Steven for murdering his son. Steven’s death is at the cost of his sanity. Griffin begins a descent into madness, allowing an imagined affair on the part of Faith to have a final confrontation between Faith and Hagens that leads to tragic consequences.
