Thousands Cheer
Singer Kathryn Jones (Kathryn Grayson) decides to put her career on hold in order to entertain the troops under the command of her father (John Boles). Her mother (Mary Astor) divorced her father years earlier for devoting too much time to the military and warns Kathryn of the dangers of falling for a military man. Kathryn still senses love there and conspires to reunite her parents by feigning a romance with an infantry man, Pvt. Eddy Marsh (Gene Kelly), a former trapeze artist who would rather be in the Army Air Corp than the infantry.
