Words Can't Go There

John Kaizan Neptune was a young California surfer when he discovered the shakuhachi, a traditional Japanese bamboo flute. Traveling to Japan in the '70s to further his musical studies, he dived into the tradition headfirst as a complete outsider. Directed by his son, this story explores the life of an artist and the price he paid to become a pivotal figure in the evolution of this rare art form.
