The team investigates the death of the leader of the Lynwood University male acapella singing group, “The Whippersnaps,” whose body was found in the school rat lab. The victim recently kicked out Ian Jansen, one of the group’s best singers, sending Booth and Aubrey to question Ian and other current members of the male group and some stars of the competing female acapella group to get a handle on the group dynamics and what could have led to the murder of one of their own. Meanwhile, surprising information about Aubrey’s own college experience is brought to light, Hodgins applies for an experimental nerve regeneration study, Booth tries to plan a summer trip with Parker and a new intern joins the Jeffersonian lab.

Walt investigates the murder of a teenager who was one of four boys acquitted of raping a developmentally disabled Cheyenne girl. When another boy is killed, all signs point to the crime being an act of revenge by the girl's brother. But Walt is not convinced by the circumstantial evidence and must find the real killer before someone else ends up dead. And the arrival of a detective from Denver forces Walt to finally confront the reality of his wife's death.

Amid the chaos and exhaustion of working 36 consecutive hours in Code Black, the doctors must deal with Margaret O'Brien (Gail O'Grady), the distraught mother of two sons who are in a devastating car accident. Also, Mario bullies Angus into performing an unnecessary operation but lets Angus take the blame when Leanne finds out.

Tara receives an intriguing pitch from her instructor, while Charmaine and Neil find parenthood a struggle, but still refuse Tara's help. Max is at odds with his new boss.

Tara transitions into her psychiatrist alter during her Abnormal Psychology class. Max considers an offer to sell his business to a competitor. Meanwhile, Kate mulls an opportunity to teach English in Japan.
