Oscar-winning composer-singer Isaac Hayes (Best Song, Theme from "Shaft!' 1971) guest-stars as convict Gandy Fitch who, after serving 20 years for slaying his wife, hires Rockford to find the real assassin. Rockford, who once was a cellmate of Gandy, reluctantly takes the case and the trail leads to former hooker Eunice, who now is the respectable wife of a doctor. While the evidence indicates that either Gandy or Eunice could have done it, the investigation takes a strange twist involving Eunice's stepchildren, Debbie and Arthur.
