Incident of the Boss Daughter
A wealthy rancher tries to adopt Gil Favor's two daughters, who come all the way from Philadelphia to see their father. While waiting to find out why the Chisholm Trail has suddenly been closed where it crosses a wealthy rancher's property, Gil Favor gets word that his two daughters, Gillian and Maggi, are arriving from Philadelphia accompanied by their Aunt Eleanor Bradley. The girls traveling companion on the stagecoach turns out to be Vance Caldwell, the wealthy rancher. Caldwell, who lost his wife and daughter in a cholera epidemic, is a lonely man. He tells Miss Bradley that he has fallen in love with her and wishes to marry her and to adopt Favor's daughters, for whom, he maintains, he can provide a better life. When Gil, the girls and Aunt Eleanor spurn his proposal, Caldwell tries to make a bargain. He will let Gil's herd pass through his property if Eleanor agrees to marry him and Gil agrees to the adoption. (TV-PG)
