Bill Gaither
American producer and gospel singer-songwriter Bill Gaither was born in Alexandria, Indiana. He formed his first musical group in college, along two of his siblings. After graduation, Gaither went on to work as a teacher, but eventually left this job to dedicate himself fully to his musical career, breaking through the industry in 1964. He found success in songwriting, pairing up with his wife, who usually focused on the lyrics, while he focused on the music. Together, they have written over 700 songs, while Gaither helped boost the career of many younger performers in the Christian music industry. He has also founded his own record label, while still performing with this group, the Gaither Vocal Band. As an actor, he had a small part in the series "Touched by an Angel" (CBS, 1994-2003) and played himself in the documentary film "The Jesus Music" (2021).
