McGarrett plays a long shot and offers himself as the key hostage in an attempted prison break. The two convicts, each facing life imprisonment, hold seven fellow inmates as hostages, demanding that the prison gates be opened. When McGarrett offers himself as a trade for the safety of the seven men, he ends up becoming the eighth and most important hostage.
