An outlaw gang led by a vengeance-seeking gunman named Dan Whelan invades Dodge City during Marshal Dillon's absence and terrorizes the town. With all of Dodge under the heel of the gang, and Whelan threatening to kill the Marshal on sight, Miss Kitty boldly challenges Whelan to a game of poker with Matt Dillon's life as the stake.

Bat is hired to guide a hunting party to Canada. The sheriff suspects that the three are wanted for robbery and murder but he needs proof. When Bat discovers the truth, he is roped to a tree as bait for the bears by them.

A fading movie star hires Mannix to help when a bomb goes off at her press conference. While it is assumed it was a publicity stunt, Mannix believes someone is trying to harm her.
