Carole Radziwill

Carole Radziwill's television career had two very distinct and diverse phases - first, as an Emmy-winning reporter and producer for ABC News, and later, as a castmate of the popular and dishy reality series "The Real Housewives of New York City" (Bravo, 2008-). Born Carole Ann DiFalco in Suffern, a village in upstate New York, she earned her bachelor's degree from Hunter College and an M.B.A. from New York University before joining ABC's news division as an unpaid intern for its magazine program "20/20" (1976-). Radziwill soon worked her way up to news anchor Peter Jennings' documentary unit, where she produced specials and segments on domestic and international subjects, including abortion and gun control, which netted her three Emmys and a Peabody Award. During this period, she also began working with fellow ABC News producer Anthony Radziwill, who was the son of Caroline Lee Bouvier-Canfield - the sister of former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis - and Polish Prince Stanislaw Albrecht Radziwill. In 1991, Radziwill left ABC's documentary unit to cover the first Iraq War from the vantage point of Israel; while there, she also reported for the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced documentary series "Profiles from the Front Line" (ABC, 2003). Between these efforts, Carole and Anthony Radziwill were married, but their 1994 union was overshadowed by health problems - Anthony had been diagnosed with fibrosarcoma, a potentially terminal form of bone cancer. He succumbed to the disease in 1999, the same year that his cousin, John F. Kennedy Jr., and her close friend, Carolyn Kennedy, were killed in an airplane crash off the coast of Martha's Vineyard. Radziwill left ABC News to pen a memoir about her career and relationships; the resulting book, What Remains: A Memoir of Fate, Friendship and Love (2005), placed on the New York Times Best Seller list and launched her second career as a writer. She penned a monthly interview column for Glamour called "Lunch Dates," in which she profiled famous figures from entertainment and politics. In 2011, she joined the cast of the reality series "The Real Housewives of New York City" in its fifth season; her tenure there encompassed her first novel, The Widow's Guide to Sex & Dating (2014), the rise and fall of her friendship with "Housewives" vet Bethanny Frankel, and her participation in the 2018 New York Marathon.
