Booth and Brennan investigate the scene where a body was uncovered during a botched practice police raid. The team identifies the body as a struggling inventor's father who had recently reunited with his son. But when a second body surfaces, the team is led on a trail of deception to find out who was the actual con-man in the inventor's life. Clark Edison returns to the lab, and he and Hodgins work on piecing together blueprints from one of the inventor's potentially valuable inventions. Meanwhile, Booth's younger brother Jared moves to D.C. to take a job at the Pentagon, and Brennan, smitten with Jared, agrees to go on a date with him to a White House function. Her date with Jared leads her to learn information about Booth's past and give her a far greater understanding into her partner's motives.

Brennan is a juror on the case of professional soccer player Peter Kidman, who is accused of murdering his wife. When she uses pure objectivity to help prove the killer not guilty, his best friend and a key witness in the case turns up dead. The Jeffersonian team must work together to prove that the soccer star was in fact guilty of killing both his wife and his friend.

E's new client Charlie gets his pilot script picked up, but the studio wants to cast E's arch nemesis, Seth Green. Vince confronts Verner, 'Smokejumpers' exacting director, who tells Vince to work on his bad habits. To help impress Barbara Miller, Ari and Lloyd give Andrew a Hollywood makeover.

During shooting of a pivotal scene for 'Smokejumpers,' Vince gets contradictory direction from Verner, and Ari and Dana Gordon try to put out the flames. After receiving an unexpected call, Turtle has a clandestine meeting.

Susan is shocked when she learns Julie is six months pregnant; Bree's life continues to revolve around alcohol and men; Lynette has a lackluster sexual encounter; Juanita is upset when she doesn't receive a Valentine's Day card from her crush.
