Clete Roberts

Actor Clete Roberts was widely known for his presence on the silver screen. Roberts began his acting career in film, appearing in such titles as the John McIntire drama "The Phenix City Story" (1955), "The Last Hurrah" (1958) with Spencer Tracy and the Ann-Margret comedy "The Swinger" (1966). He worked in television in his early acting career as well, including a part on "You Are There" (CBS, 1953-57). Roberts was nominated for a Best News Commentator or Reporter Primetime Emmy Award in 1956. He continued to work steadily in film throughout the seventies, appearing in the Jan-Michael Vincent drama "Big Wednesday" (1978), the comedy "The Jerk" (1979) with Steve Martin and the Malcolm McDowell adventure "Time After Time" (1979). His work around this time also included a part on the TV movie "Heatwave!" (ABC, 1973-74). He also worked in television during these years, including a part on "M*A*S*H" (CBS, 1972-1983). He also had parts in the miniseries "Goliath Awaits" (1981-82), "V" (1982-83) and "V: The Final Battle" (1983-84). Roberts last appeared in "W*A*L*T*E*R" (CBS, 1983-84). Roberts passed away in September 1984 at the age of 72.
