David Palffy

Canadian-born David Palffy has acted in his home country as well as the United States, England, and Holland. He has worked in television, film, and theater, though his major contributions both in and out of character have been with the theater. He spends a good deal of time teaching and nurturing up-and-coming talent through the Gastown Globe 22 Theatre Company, as well as the Yaletown Actors Lab (both of which he founded). That's not to say he hasn't had opportunities in film and television, the former consisting primarily of very small roles. American audiences, especially diehard science-fiction fans, may recognize his two separate recurring characters on the interstellar epic series "Stargate SG-1." The characters Palffy portrays, Sokar and Anubis, are members of the Goa'uld race, one of the more dangerous threats to humanity and Earth. Along with his brother Jeff, a notable talent agent, Palffy has helped launch careers, such as that of Evangeline Lilly (best known for her role as Kate on the NBC mystery drama "Lost"). The two also managed to find David a wife, actress Erica Durance, with whom he has a son.
