Eva Gutowski

Eva Gutowski was a digital celebrity who had nearly 5 million subscribers to her popular YouTube channel. Born and raised in Southern California, Gutowksi did not have an easy life growing up. When she was in the sixth grade, her mother lost her job, thus forcing the family to downsize. Gutowski and her sister were soon forced to live in a one-bedroom apartment with their parents - a far cry from the spacious house they previously lived in. Subsisting on an unhealthy diet of ramen noodles, Gutowksi dreamed of one day making it out of her dire living conditions and becoming a star. By the time she entered her senior year of high school, her mother's financial situation changed for the better, thus allowing the family to move into a more spacious apartment. When it came time to enroll in college Gutowski chose nearby Cal State Fullerton, where studied broadcast journalism. Initially frustrated with the tedium of college life, Gutowski took the advice of her father and started making videos for YouTube. She initially made the videos, which consisted primarily of beauty tips and comedy sketches, to entertain her friends, but quickly found that she had a devoted audience that was also watching them. A month after posting her first video, Gutowski had over 10,000 subscribers to her YouTube channel. What started as a hobby, quickly blossomed into a full-fledged career. And with that in mind, Gutowski promptly quit her part-time job at a pizza restaurant to devote herself full-time to making YouTube videos. By July of 2016, Gutowski had over 4.5 million subscribers on her channel. She also starred in and executive produced the scripted YouTube series, "How to Survive High School" (YouTube, 2015) thus making Eva Gutowski one of the most recognizable personalities on the popular video upload site.
