Fay Compton

Distinguished stage actress with a distinctive, lovely voice who appeared in Sir James Barrie's "Peter Pan" and was reputedly the playwright's favorite actress (she starred in five of his plays and he wrote, "Mary Rose" for her). Compton made her film debut in "She Stoops to Conquer" (1914) and, after starring in numerous British silents and early talkies, had a long career in a character parts, including as Emilia opposite Orson Welles' "Othello" (1952) and as the aunt on TV's "The Forstye Saga."
