Gayle King

Gayle King was raised in Maryland, with some of her formative years spent living in Turkey, where the family had relocated to accommodate her father's job as an electronic engineer. After graduating from the University of Maryland in 1976, King became a production assistant at a Baltimore TV station where she became fast friends with the young anchor of the 6pm news, Oprah Winfrey. King herself went on to success in local news, eventually becoming an anchor at the CBS affiliate in Hartford, Connecticut. In 1997, King hosted "The Gayle King Show" (Syndicated, 1997-98) a short-lived experiment that was revived in 2006 as a show on XM Satellite Radio. King made her first appearance as a correspondent on "Entertainment Tonight" (Syndicated 1981-) in 2007. In 2011, "The Gayle King Show" (OWN, 2011) came full circle when it began airing on Oprah's OWN Network. The same year, King made her first appearance as a guest co-host on "The View" (ABC, 1997-). The next year, King became co-anchor of the rebooted "CBS This Morning" (CBS, 1987-1999; 2012-) with Charlie Rose, her most high-profile position to date.
