Guy Branum

Guy Branum was born in Marysville, CA. He studied history and political science at the University of California, Berkeley, and then went onto pursue a law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School. Following graduation, Branum landed a job as a staff writer on the short-lived comedy talk show "Unscrewed with Martin Sargent" (TechTV 2003-04), on which Branum also appeared in various sketch comedy segments. However, his first major gig came as a writer for the talk show "Chelsea Lately" (E! 2007-2014), on which he also made occasional onscreen appearances. After spending three years with the program, Branum broke into acting proper, appearing in films like "No Strings Attached" (2011) and series like "Black Box" (USA 2013). All the while, he maintained his presence as a writer, working behind the scenes on programs like "Fashion Police" (E! 2002-), and "Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell" (FX 2012-13). Soon after, Branum broke into scripted comedy writing, earning a staff writing position on the series "Awkward" (MTV 2011-16), as well as writing and story editing jobs on the sitcom "The Mindy Project" (Fox/Hulu 2012-). A standup comedian, Branum competed on the eighth season of "Last Comic Standing" (NBC 2003-2010, 2014-15).
