Hilary Bader

Television writer Hilary J. Bader was known for science fiction shows such as "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" and animation programs like "Batman Beyond," for which she won a 2001 Daytime Emmy. A Brooklyn, New York, native who studied mime in Paris and later toured the U.S. with a show that combined storytelling, dance, and mime, she wrote her first scripts for "Star Trek: The Next Generation" in 1990. She had a close association with the "Star Trek" franchise throughout that decade, writing for the video games "Star Trek: Borg" and "Star Trek: Klingon," along with her credits on "Star Trek: Voyager" and "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine." Her animation series writing includes the late-'90s version of "Superman" and "The New Batman Adventures," as well as the "Batman Beyond" comic books and the made-for-TV film. She also worked on the fantasy adventure show "Xena: Warrior Princess" and "Young Hercules." She died in 2002 at age 50, succumbing to cancer.
