Ian Gelder
Ian Gelder's career spanned many formats and forms, as the British actor first started appearing on stage and television in the 1970s in his native land. His early work was mostly confined to small or one-off roles in British television. It wasn't until the late 1980s that Gelder started breaking through to a wider audience. He appeared in the Academy Award-nominated Alec Guinness-led Dickens adaptation "Little Dorrit" (1987), which was his feature film debut. He showed up in American cinema a few years later in the John Goodman comedy "King Ralph" (1991). For nearly the next 20 years, Gelder bounced around a variety of roles on television shows, movies, and the stage. Some notable works in that time period were his role in the acclaimed German film "Pope Joan" (2009) and a variety of appearances on long-running British cop procedural "The Bill" (ITV 1983-2010) and medical drama "Casualty" (BBC 1986-). Gelder's stage works during this time were also notable, as he appeared in the London Revival of "The Sound of Music" in 2006 and drew rave reviews for his work in the 2014 run of "Titus Andronicus" at the Globe Theatre His profile rose when he appeared as Mr. Dekker in the Doctor Who spin-off "Torchwood" (BBC 2006-2011). It soared higher when he joined the cast of the pop culture sensation "Game of Thrones" (HBO 2011-) as the recurring Kevan Lannister. In 2017, he played the recurring role of Norman Gordon on the TV adaptation of "Snatch" (Crackle 2017-).
