Harm doubts his ability as a pilot but after his partner's plane gets attacked midflight, he has to act quick to avoid it from going down in enemy territory. Harm comes up with a tricky maneuver that saves Medwick from being captured. Later that day, Captain Pike congratulates Harm for his courageous work and hints that he has accomplished all that he can as a pilot. Harm is reluctant to accept the truth but realizes that if he continues to fly, his career is headed towards a dead end.
