Lieutenant Stillman asks Rush to investigate the 1980 unsolved murder of an 8-year-old boy. Stillman worked the case and is still haunted by it. Initially, the team focuses on a local thug who quickly moved away after the killing.

At the conclusion of last season, the CSIs faced their toughest challenge yet, when bombs where detonated across the city and Det. Flack suffered severe injuries during the explosions. Mac struggled with the guilt of not being able to get Flack and his team out of harms' way, and Stella fought to regain some sense of normalcy after being brutally attacked by her boyfriend. (TV-14)
