Incident of the Pitchwagon
A pitchman's estranged wife agrees to help him raise money for the family of a drover who died while saving the pitchman's life. A pitchman named "Doctor" George Stimson wants to help raise money to support the family of one of Gil Favor's drovers, Frank Miller, who died while fighting off Indians who attacked Stimson's wagon. He sets up slow-thinking Mushy in a poker game in booming Coltville, site of a recent silver strike, but Mushy can't follow directions and loses all the money contributed by the drovers. Then Stimson's estranged wife, Melinda, a former singer, arrives to tell him she wants a divorce. But fast-talking Stimson convinces her she should sing again, this time in a benefit for Miller's family. He bills her as Jenny Lind and sells seats to Coltville's gamblers at $50 per. But just before the concert is to begin, Melinda leaves town, thinking that the gamblers have discovered she is not the real Jenny Lind. (TV-PG)
