John Montoya

Given that his father was a TV repairman, John Montoya had an interest in television from a young age. When Montoya finally did decide to become an actor, his parents were supportive and encouraged him to take performing arts classes in grade school. A native of Texas, Montoya soon began training with some of the Lone Star state's most acclaimed acting coaches, before landing a small part in the 2006 straight-to-video comedy, "Tortillas Again?" That same year Montoya was cast in the pilot episode of the football series "Friday Night Lights." The show was shot on location in and around Austin, Texas, and although his part was uncredited in the pilot, Montoya soon started landing more legitimate acting work in the years that would follow. In 2007 Montoya landed a small role as a high school student in the horror comedy, "Teeth." He followed that up by appearing in director Robert Rodriguez's sci-fi action movie, "Planet Terror," which also starred Josh Brolin and Rose McGowan. After minor roles in the action thriller "Missionary Man," and the 2008 drama "Garrison," Montoya took a three-year hiatus from screen acting. He reemerged in 2011, however, with a small role in the comedy "Mangus!"
