Jonathan Antin

Born in LA the future hair stylist to the stars was fittingly reared in Tinseltown. Antin grew up immersed in the celebrity culture of beautiful and creative people. His older brother, Steve Antin was a successful young actor in the 1980s, appearing in hits like "The Goonies" (1985), and his older sister, Robin, (often featured on "Blowout") was a dancer/choreographer and the creator of the female pop group/burlesque dance troupe, The Pussycat Dolls. Antin's father, Michael was an artist and his mother, Brenda a former VP of Motown Films. It was only natural that Antin enter the family business - and it did not take long for him to discover his life's calling.At the age of eight, he became inspired to become a hairdresser after watching Warren Beatty's iconic turn in "Shampoo" (1975), starring as a lothario hairstylist who seduces his beautiful female clientele. Years later, Antin dropped out of Beverly Hills High School and enrolled in the Fairfax Beauty Academy. Shortly after graduation, he landed a job at a trendy West Hollywood salon. By the age of 23, he owned his own salon in West Hollywood and enjoyed a celebrity clientele to go with it. In 2004, Bravo premiered a risky reality show based on Antin's struggles to open his new salon in Beverly Hills and to launch his signature line of "Jonathan" hair care products (with the ironic slogan: "For Drama-Free Hair"). This no-holds-barred view into Antin's glamorous existence - with the occasional full-blown hissy fit - made him a star over night. During season two, Antin's appearance at an NYC Sephora store, attracted hordes of fans willing to wait in line for hours just for the opportunity to meet reality television's latest celebrity du jour. Antin also used his TV show to announce his engagement to girlfriend, Sescie Karabuykov, as well the impending birth of their son, Asher. Never known for being shy or particularly private, Antin even allowed Bravo to film his frequent therapy sessions. Millions watched as he openly discussed his fears and wiped away silent tears. In contrast to all his alpha-male intensity, was his distinctively laid-back vocabulary; referring to his signature layered haircut as "babed out," and utilizing the words "bro" and "dude" liberally. Most famously - he wanted always to make his client's hair "bangin." With the success of his TV show, the hairstylist-turned-spokesperson launched "Jonathan" hair care products on QVC. Soon after, the ubiquitous cosmetics chain, Sephora, began selling the line, moving one million units of product in seven months. Antin was so overcome with happiness upon hearing the good news, he - not surprisingly - openly wept on camera.
