When Bill returns from Africa bearing gifts, Cissy presents him with a hand-knitted tie. Buffy and Jody also want to give Bill a gift, and end up purchasing a horse for him from a retiring carriage driver.

Buffy leaves Mrs. Beasley with Mr. French, who accidentally knocks the doll off the terrace. When Bill learns from Cissy the importance of Mrs. Beasley to Buffy, he goes on an earnest search to find the doll.

Jody thinks Bill doesn't love him enough to punish him.

A dog follows Jody and Buffy home from school and they take it into the apartment. They hid the dog as long as they could until Mr. French finds the dog.

Thanks to the well-intentioned bumbling of Mrs. Brown (Pamela Britton), the trash collector picks up Martin's spaceship for scrap. This sends Martin (Ray Walton) and Tim (Bill Bixby) on a desperate search for the missing vehicle, which is Martin's only possible means of transportation back to his own planet. With the help of an eyewitness--a dog!--our two heroes trace the ship to an amusement park, where it has been converted into a most exotic carousel.

In order to repay borrowed money, Oscar takes a job working in a greasy-spoon cafe.
