Call Me Lucky / Torch Singer
Call Me Lucky: Harry Beamus, an inveterate gambler, wants to be the luckiest man in the world. Roarke offers him a magic substance which he downs in one gulp, before finding twenty dollars on the floor. Harry goes off to test his luck and wins ten straight passes against a hustler, and everyone starts calling him "Lucky". When his son arrives on the island, though, Harry must decide whether to continue gambling and lose his son, or give it up and become a father again.Torch Singer: Edith Garvey arrives to fulfill her dream of becoming a torch singer like her grandmother in the roaring 20's. Edith also wants her grandmother's fame and to discover why she quit singing. Roarke puts her in a Chicago taxi and her fantasy begins. She becomes a singer for mobster Big Al, and is such a sensation that he proclaims her Kitty Abiline, his new star. She meets Neil, a musician, and they fall in love, but when they get caught in a shootout between Big Al and Bugsy McGowan, they are in serious danger.
