Kevin Biegel

Born in Chicago and raised in a military family in Florida, Biegel attended Boston College where he studied communications. In his free time, he wrote for the movie website Ain't It Cool News, which gave him access to free movie screenings. It was during one of these screenings that Biegel saw an early version of "There's Something About Mary" (1998). Although he enjoyed the film, Biegel thought there were several parts that could have easily been cut, which he made sure to highlight in his review. Then, as luck would have it, the following morning after his review was published on the site, Biegel was awoken by a surprise phone call by none other than the film's director, Peter Farrelly. Farrelly told Biegel that he agreed with everything he wrote, and offered him a job in Hollywood. Flabbergasted at the opportunity, Biegel took Farrelly up on his offer and moved to Los Angeles after graduation, where he became Farrelly's assistant during the shoot of "Me, Myself & Irene" (2000). After the film wrapped, Biegel concentrated on landing a sitcom writing job, and took one odd job after the next - including a data entry position with Telemundo - before landing a coveted writer's assistant position on "The Tracy Morgan Show" (NBC 2003-04). That show was cancelled after one season, but Biegel was able to utilize his connections in order to land a staff writing job on NBC's "Scrubs." Biegel wrote seven episodes of "Scrubs," and was eventually promoted to both story editor and co-producer. He left the show in 2009, however, to co-write "Cougar Town" with "Scrubs" creator Bill Lawrence. Although never a big ratings success, "Cougar Town" quickly became a cult favorite with a devoted following that followed the show when it moved from ABC to TBS after its third season. With his TV career in full swing, Biegel decided to write a TV pilot about a military family in Florida. The extremely autobiographical pilot, called "Enlisted," was eventually picked up by Fox in 2013. When it premiered in January of 2014, "Enlisted" received overwhelmingly positive reviews.
