Following an unexplained attack involving disfigured humans, the Fringe team visits Edina City, a small town in upstate New York, to uncover leads surrounding the bizarre case. When it’s determined that these disfigured people have managed to hide themselves for a while and they’ll do just about anything to keep it that way, the investigation takes an unexpected turn.

David and Mary Margaret continue to struggle with their feelings; a mysterious stranger in town makes Regina and Emma suspicious; Prince Charming's wedding approaches.

Clark and Lex are mystified when the Luthor mansion is robbed by burglars who seem to have the ability to walk through walls. Lex's curiosity becomes desperation when he discovers that the thieves have stolen evidence of his secret project. Clark wonders if his father's suspicions that Lex is deceitful have been correct.

Lex locates Morgan Edge (now played by Patrick Bergin - "Sleeping With the Enemy")--who has undergone facial reconstruction--and gets him to admit to criminal dealings with Lionel. But before Lex can report his knowledge to the authorities, someone tries to kill him at the mansion. After barely surviving, Lex flees and asks Clark for help. However, when Clark returns to the mansion to investigate, he finds nothing amiss. He begins to wonder if what Lex described really happened, especially after Lionel discloses that Lex has had a psychotic breakdown and must be institutionalized.

After his schoolmate, Cyrus Krupp (Jeremy Lelliott), claims to be an alien and seemingly proves it by using heat vision, Clark investigates and begins to believe that the boy is from Clark's home planet, Krypton. Meanwhile, when Helen (recurring guest star Emanuelle Vaugier) discovers a locked room in the Luthor mansion, she demands to know what is inside -- and Lex must decide whether or not to admit the truth about his ongoing investigation of Clark.
