The Racer: Jack Kincade was a racing driver until a crash ended his career and left him with a limp. His fantasy is to recreate that crash, so he can conquer his nightmares. When Jack's wife, Rachel, and his son, Patrick, discover what he is doing they are worried and ask him not to go through with it. But, when his son tells him that some people thought he lost his nerve, he gets in the car and drives the track before anyone can stop him. He negotiates the crash site successfully and overcomes his fears.Lady of the Evening: Renee Lansing, an alias for Belinda Green, has arrived on the island with Roarke's guarantee that she will not be recognised for what she really is – a prostitute.When she bumps into Bill Frederick, she cannot deny the feelings between them, but is worried he will find out about her past. When a former client threatens to give her away, Bill reveals that he was also a client but is now in love with her and wants a proper relationship.
