Hart and Cohle hunt for their newly identified suspect, Reggie Ledoux, a meth cooker who shared a cell with Dora Lange's husband and recently skipped parole. As Hart's personal life collapses around him, Cohle immerses himself in an old criminal identity from his narco days, contacting an East-Texas biker gang known to deal with their primary suspect. Cohle's undercover work takes him to a dangerous edge where the law has no place, and both men must confront the cost of living a false life.
Charley’s (Dawn-Lyen Gardner) relationship with Remy (Dondré T. Whitfield) is threatened when she discovers that a business loan is contingent on the involvement of her estranged husband, Davis (Timon Kyle Durrett). She later sees Davis on a date during her girls’ night out with Nova (Rutina Wesley) and Aunt Violet (Tina Lifford), and a confrontation ensues. Micah (Nicholas L. Ashe) is pulled over by a police officer in his expensive new car, and Davis uses his star power to secure his release, which upsets Charley. The concern over Micah pushes Aunt Violet to reach out to Hollywood (Omar J. Dorsey) to finally confess her feelings. Plus, Nova mourns the end of her relationship with Calvin (Greg Vaughan) by seeking comfort with new companions. She also holds a community fundraiser. Later, Darla (Bianca Lawson) reaches a decision about her relationship with Ralph Angel (Kofi Siriboe) and Charley makes a huge personal decision.
Charley (Dawn-Lyen Gardner) schedules an appointment with a family therapist, but when Micah (Nicholas L. Ashe) doesn’t show, Charley’s own issues come to light. Nova (Rutina Wesley) and Micah work together at Habitat for Humanity where Nova is surprised to see Dr. Robert Dubois (Alimi Ballard). When Davis (Timon Kyle Durrett) arrives to pick up Micah, he is intrigued by a singer who is there to draw attention to the cause. Meanwhile, Davis finally answers some of Micah’s questions, and Hollywood (Omar J. Dorsey) encourages Violet (Tina Lifford) to start her own baking business. Later, Ralph Angel (Kofi Siriboe) tries to fix a rash decision made by Darla (Bianca Lawson), which has unforeseen consequences. Finally, Darla secures an unexpected job.
Charley (Dawn-Lyen Gardner) and Jacob Boudreaux (Lea Coco) face off over the false rumors he’s been spreading about her mill. Black farmers celebrate Ralph Angel’s (Kofi Siriboe) accomplishments on the last day of his first harvest, but his day is disrupted when a farmer reveals she must take her cane elsewhere due to concern about Charley’s mill. Other farmers follow suit, which jeopardizes Charley’s business. Meanwhile, Hollywood (Omar J. Dorsey) receives a large settlement, and in the midst of his excitement, he proposes to Violet (Tina Lifford). Nova (Rutina Wesley) throws them an engagement party where she shares an unexpected, charged moment with Remy (Dondré T. Whitfield). Charley devises a shocking solution for her mill issues that puts her relationship with Remy in jeopardy. Finally, Darla (Bianca Lawson) begs for Ralph Angel’s forgiveness, and he makes a decision about their relationship and his connection to Blue (Ethan Hutchison).
