Lisa Robin Kelly

Lisa Robin Kelly

Born in Connecticut, Kelly pursued both film and TV roles actively in her early 20s, finding better luck on television, with guest spots on the Fox Network shows "Married with Children" and the crime series "Silk Stalkings" (CBS, 1991-93; USA, 1993-99). Appearing in a handful of TV movies, Kelly stayed under the Fox umbrella in a one-off role on a 1996 episode of the hit supernatural serial "The X-Files" and stuck within the spooky vein for the horror feature "Amityville: Dollhouse." Just when it seemed that she might be relegated only to TV cameos and B-movies, Kelly landed the part of Laurie, the mean-spirited older sister of teen protagonist Eric Forman (Topher Grace) on "That '70s Show." With her flowing Farrah Fawcett hair and snarky attitude, Kelly's Laurie became more prominent on the comedy series as the character strung along Ashton Kutcher's fawning and dimwitted Kelso. Unfortunately, Kelly's issues with alcohol abuse led to a break from the sitcom, and even an invitation to rejoin the show wasn't enough to keep her from dismissal in 2003, with Christina Moore taking over as Laurie. Outside of a couple of overlooked low-budget short films, Kelly wasn't subsequently seen in the public eye much except for unflattering mug shots, and her slide into a tumultuous life finally ended when she was found dead at a Los Angeles treatment facility in 2013. While her death was disheartening for fans of "That '70s Show," admirers were at least able to take comfort in revisiting her amusing antics during the sitcom's heyday.
