Mark Bernes

Mark Naumovich Bernes was a Soviet film actor and an outstanding Russian chansonnier. One of the most beloved artists of the Soviet stage of the 1950s-1960s, who performed some of the most poignant songs to come out of World War II, including "Dark Is the Night" and "Cranes". Thanks in large part to Bernes, the golden fund of Soviet song classics was formed.
