With her recent decision to stay on the beat, Burgess (Marina Squerciati) begins to feel a little regret. While at a convenience store she sees some suspicious activity and pursues it without calling in for backup. Roman (Brian Geraghty) warns against it, but it’s too late, Chang (guest star Rich Ting) confiscates their guns and radios. They are trapped with no means to communicate out for support. Meanwhile, it’s a slow day in intelligence and they are spending the day receiving taser certification. Holmes returns to New York with a new apprentice and a renewed interest in working with the NYPD after being fired by London's MI6. However, Captain Gregson won't let him resume consulting for the department without permission from his former partner, Watson, the NYPD's new go-to private investigator. In the second season premiere, after taking a bullet during a siege of the precinct, Jane Rizzoli is honored as a hero at a public event. The celebration is short-lived, however, when disaster strikes. The ensuing case reunites Jane with an old high-school flame, Sgt. Major Casey Jones (recurring guest star CHRIS VANCE - Dexter, Burn Notice), who may be just the person she needs to heal her emotional scars.
