Jack (Alec Baldwin) wants Liz (Tina Fey) to book "The Subway Hero," New York’s newest celebrity, who jumped in front of a train to save a total stranger who had fallen on the tracks. It turns out that the hero is none other than Liz’s ex boyfriend, Dennis (guest star Dean Winters), "The Beeper King." Dennis agrees to do the show, and tries to win Liz back into his life. Meanwhile, Jack wants to find a young and hip Republican celebrity for the weekend’s John McCain fundraising dinner, but the only talent he is able to secure is Bucky Bright (guest star Tim Conway), a TV star from the 1940s and 1950s. Though Jack rejects him, Kenneth (Jack McBrayer) is a fan and offers him a tour of the studio, which rewards him with many stories of old Hollywood. Meanwhile, Jack tries to persuade Tracy (Tracy Morgan) to become the celebrity face of the Republican Party. Jane Krakowski, Judah Friedlander, Keith Powell, Katrina Bowden and Maulik Pancholy also star. Tim Conway and Dean Winters guest star.

In the Season Eight finale, Larry accuses NY neighbor Michael J. Fox of harassment; Jeff takes a bullet for Susie; and Larry is scolded for giving an inappropriate birthday gift to Jennifer's son, Greg.

An American woman who was a reserve in the U.S. Army stationed in Iraq is found dead in what appears to be a hate crime--a very sensitive case to prosecute, with everyone offering different opinions of a situation that is extremely complicated.

An Assistant District Attorney, Dan Tenofsky, is found dead in Central Park. Branch, McCoy and Southerlyn are devastated. Briscoe and Green go to Tenofsky's apartment and don't find many clues. He apparently had no family or friends but they do question his office mate who tells them he had a brother in Phoenix. They can't find his brother and something's not quite right. Tenofsky was apparently in Phoenix while enrolled at Brooklyn Law School. It turns out his real name was Jacob Dieter and he assumed the name of Daniel Tenofsky, who dropped out, so his real identity and credentials come into question.

On the night of Peter's gubernatorial election, Alicia, Will and Diane race to a series of emergency court proceedings when Zach believes he's witnessed vote tampering. Meanwhile, an unlikely source offers Cary aid to start his own firm, while the conflicted feelings Alicia has in her personal and professional lives come to a head, on the fourth season finale. Martha Plimpton, T.R. Knight, Denis O'Hare, Dylan Baker, Ana Gasteyer and Estelle Parsons guest star. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg appears as himself.
