Peter Falk, as Lt. Columbo, and his real-life bride, actress Shera Danese, playing a vivacious woman, join forces to incriminate a world-famous food critic - and homicide suspect - played by guest star Louis Jourdan.
It's a dream come true for Tony when he's challenged by an aging ex-champ, but he has more than just a fight on his hand when the opposition unveils its secret weapon.
At a luxurious but remote tropical island resort, the enigmatic Mr. Roarke somehow makes the secret dreams of his well-heeled guests come true, although twists of fate occasionally turn those dreams into nightmares. He is assisted by Tattoo, a little person who could be trusted to sing out, "Da plane! Da plane!" as each group of guests arrived. In the final season of the series, Roarke is joined by Lawrence, a dapper Englishman. As a sort of anthology series, the show featured new guest stars each week, and many big names of the era made a trip onto "Fantasy Island."
Terry Nash, a family man, barely survives an apparent assassination attempt in which he sees his wife and infant daughter killed. In the hospital Nash's brother-in-law confides to him that his late wife's side of the family have been marked for gangland execution for years. Nash, whose memory about the attack is foggy, knows only two things...his wife and child are dead ...and he wants revenge. The man said to be responsible is a state's witness for a pending federal underworld investigation and he is in the protective custody of Starsky and Hutch. Nash positions himself in a hotel across the street from where the three are sequestered; he then phones multiple bomb threats into the hotel. As Starsky, Hutch and their state's witness are about to leave, another man identifying himself as an FBI agent redirects them away from their planned fire escape route out - through the building's front door. Despite Starsky and Hutch's best efforts - they walk right into Nash's path and he shoots their prize witness dead. On his way out of the hotel, the escaping Nash runs headlong into a hotel thief - also on the lam. The hotel thief is mistakenly arrested for the killing. When Nash reads about it, he turns himself in, to police. Starsky and Hutch try to check out his story and virtually nothing about Terry Nash is true. They even look at a band film of the day he was to have withdrawn a large sum of money and Nash is not on it. He is as surprised and baffled as they are.
In the bank film, Hutch notices a man's cigarette burning too fast. Rea-lizing that some footage has been removed and wondering also about the non-existent FBI agent who directed their witness into assassin Nash's path, Starsky and Hutch know that their confessed killer was, at least, not responsible for his actions. They know that somebody wanted their state's witness out of the way or they wouldn't have been assigned to protect him in the first place. The next step is easy -- it is obvious that Terry Nash has been set up. They soon learn that the culprits are administering post hypnotic suggestion to innocent citizens like Nash - giving them reason to want revenge, instructing them to do the killing and then suggesting that they resist police so they, themselves will be killed. No sooner do they make the discovery than another well meaning citizen tries to kill them!
