After being goaded by friend Bill Norwood (guest star PAT FINN) into taking an assistant coaching position on the girls soccer team that Sue is now a member of, Mike becomes the new head coach but discovers that the girls care more about their various personal issues then the game itself. Meanwhile, after discovering that a mysteriously hideous smell in the house is emanating from Brick, Frankie must attempt to introduce her pungent son to better hygiene; and Axl is completely perplexed by a picture Cassidy painted for him as to whether it means they are still together as a couple or broken up.

It’s the start of a new school year and Spencer (Daniel Ezra) and Jordan (Michael Evans Behling) are officially eligible to enter the NFL draft, placing Spencer at the center of the media spotlight. Olivia (Samantha Logan) returns to LA after being changed by her time in London. Layla (Greta Onieogou) plans for the opening of her new lounge which will feature Patience’s (Chelsea Tavares) first performance since being stabbed. Elsewhere, Asher (Cody Christian) and Jaymee (guest star Miya Horcher) navigate their new lives as parents to baby AJ. Bre-Z, Monet Mazur and Karimah Westbrook also star.

It’s New Year’s Eve and Spencer (Daniel Ezra) and Olivia (Samantha Logan) are determined to ring in the new year together despite several interruptions that arise throughout the day. Elsewhere, Jordan (Michael Evans Behling) gets advice on how to navigate a sensitive topic with Layla (Greta Onieogou), and Asher (Cody Christian) comes clean to Jaymee (guest star Miya Horcher) about a secret he’s been keeping. Finally, Patience (Chelsea Tavares) is pushed to her limit.

In an epic season finale, dramatic changes are on the horizon for the whole gang. With so many lessons learned from their enormous loss, the road forward is destined to be influenced by the past.

When a couples’ trip doesn’t go as planned, Spencer (Daniel Ezra) volunteers the Vortex’s help at South Crenshaw High’s production of Romeo and Juliet. Jordan (Michael Evans Behling) and Layla (Greta Onieogou) receive news from their wedding venue that leaves them each feeling conflicted. Elsewhere, a new development in Miko’s trial leads Coop (Bre-Z) to make a risky move. Finally, Laura (Monet Mazur) prepares for her first date, and Asher (Cody Christian) and Jaymee (guest star Miya Horcher) attempt to reconnect.

While Billy (Taye Diggs) preps his team for the combine, Spencer (Daniel Ezra) hears some news that leaves him rattled. Asher (Cody Christian) steps up to help Jaymee (guest star Miya Horcher) following her hospital visit but wishes he could do more, so Layla (Greta Onieogou) devises a clever plan that involves some unlikely couples ending up on unconventional dates... a plan that could also prove helpful to Olivia (Samantha Logan). Meanwhile Coop (Bre-Z) helps Preach (Kareem J. Grimes) prepare for his custody trial and Jordan is torn about how to handle a confrontation between Layla and Clay (guest star Deric Augustine).
