The first day back at school proves to be very educational: Ben (JEREMY MILLER) learns to face fear; Carol (TRACEY GOLD) gets a strange date for the dance; and Mike (KIRK CAMERON) becomes infatuated and learns a big lesson.

Fellow private investigator Charlie Frome is killed by a hit-and-run driver, apparently while working on a case, and Joe Mannix decides to see if he can determine why Frome was murdered.

Ridge and Brooke meet at the Private Dining Room and Brooke is angry with Ridge's continued infatuation with Caroline. Donna admits to Beth that things aren't working out very well between her and Mark. Stephanie's suspicions about the Logan family irritate Eric who views them as harmless. Ridge takes Brooke home and they share a romantic moment. Storm warns Brooke that she may be heading for trouble but she disagrees.

Stephanie continues to be suspicious of the Logans as Kristen shares the details of her evening with Clark with Margo. Rocco encourages Donna to break of f with Mark. Clarke asks Kristen for an explanation of her behavior the previous evening. Donna catches Mark in bed with another woman. Ridge tries to entice Margo with a skiing invitation in Switzerland but she declines.

Ridge warns Kristen that Clarke might be an opportunist and tell Stephanie that he is out to get Bill Spencer. Spencer is overjoyed that Ridge is out of his daughter's life for good and presses Margo for an answer to his proposal. Ridge goes after Margo in an effort to get back at Bill.

Brooke is firmly resolved to continue her entanglement with Ridge. Ridge is in a mood over Margo's decline of his invitation and berates Rocco for a slight mistake. Bill decides to start a fashion magazine and he's decided to ask Caroline and Margo to be a part of it. Brooke invites Ridge to attend the Logan family's tree-trimming party and Ridge asks her if she would accompany him to Switzerland. She happily accepts.
